How 1:1 mentorship looks with me

Everyone says “1:1 mentorship.” Almost nobody shows you what it actually means. Here are the ten things I do for every aspirant I mentor, with real, anonymised examples from my mentees.

Two plans, one mentor

Pick your pace

Real examples from my mentees

Ten things I do for every aspirant

Most aspirants do not fail for lack of material. They fail because nobody is watching the day-to-day. Coaching classes teach a room. Mentorship works on you.

1Full Plan

Nightly sessions

Your day is reported to me before it ends.

How it works

Every evening you report what you completed against the day's plan: chapters finished, notes written, answers attempted. Every 3 days we sit together for a one-hour 1:1 review and set the next targets (weekly on the Lite Plan).

Why it matters

Knowing someone will ask “what did you finish today?” changes how you study all day. Moved tasks get tracked, not quietly forgotten.

2

A weekly timetable

Hour by hour, with a named output for every block.

How it works

Each block has a time, a focus area, exactly what to do and the output expected, such as “1 page of notes per chapter” or “CSAT score out of 20”. Each day ends with active recall and a four-line update to me.

Why it matters

“Study polity today” is not a plan. If the schedule runs over, we fix it that same night rather than a week later.

Doubts on a voice note

Answered in my own voice the same evening.

How it works

Send a doubt on WhatsApp as text or a photo. I reply with a voice note explaining it the same evening.

Why it matters

Unresolved doubts pile up. A spoken explanation is often clearer, and it can feel like a quick revision in itself.

Daily answer writing

Checked line by line, with a mark out of 10.

How it works

You write one answer every day. I return it with examiner-style remarks: where the structure works, which data, reports or case law to add, how to balance the argument, and a mark with reasons.

Why it matters

Mains is won in the answer sheet. Daily feedback shows exactly what separates a 5 from an 8.

Your notes, checked

I fix the facts before the exam finds them.

How it works

Share photos of your notes. I point out factual gaps, missing contemporary details and anything worth adding — here, that the Right to Equality spans Articles 14 to 18.

Why it matters

An error written into your notes gets revised again and again. Catching it early is far cheaper.

6Full Plan

Explanatory classes, almost every day

Built around your own attempt data.

How it works

On the Full Plan we meet live 8 times a week. For repeat aspirants, we begin with your past attempts — here, a mentee's GS Paper 1 and CSAT scores across four years, set against the cutoffs.

Why it matters

When classes start from your own data, we spend time on the exact gaps that cost you marks.

7

Which books to read

And which ones to skip.

How it works

A book list mapped to the syllabus: what to read, in what order and which parts of each source matter, plus a list of what to leave out.

Why it matters

A short, deliberate list read thoroughly beats a shelf of books read once.

8

A schedule that fits your day

Working, in college or full-time at it.

How it works

Before we start, we map your real week: office hours, college, commute and family time. The timetable is built around the hours you actually have.

Why it matters

A plan you cannot follow is worse than no plan, especially for working aspirants.

9

Test series

Regular tests that show where you stand.

How it works

Tests are built into your plan at regular intervals. Each one is evaluated and we go through the result together.

Why it matters

Tracking scores across tests makes progress visible and turns weak areas into next week's plan.

10Full Plan

Daily worksheets

Practise, revise and lock in what you studied.

How it works

Along with your timetable, you receive a worksheet each day linked to what you are studying.

Why it matters

Reading feels productive, but recall is what the exam tests.
